As a child the joy of discovering the resonance in all objects, their frequency, pitch and tone served me well, and became the primary alphabet of a language I was later to become fluent in. Percussion became my native tongue the day I experienced a direct calling from the spirit of the drum. This calling completed me, and in that moment I became whole; I found my path in life. This was the beginning of a profound relationship that has embraced and carried me through life.
For years I dedicated myself to becoming fluent in the language of the drum. My devotion to the drum was absolute; the drum and I became one. I was guided to bring this gift into the music industry, which led to my career as a professional percussionist, playing all over the world with the UK band Cornershop, reaching number one in the UK charts, in 1998 with the song Brimful of Asha.
During this period of heady success, I started experiencing many personal challenges. Unresolved pain from my past came back to haunt me, and I lost my way and began spiraling out of control. Once again the spirit of the drum intervened, and brought me home. At this point my relationship with the drum moved into a far deeper frequency. And as I was initiated into the sacred practice of music and healing, I experienced the death of my old self, and the birth of the man I have become.
In 2002, I was guided by spirit to set up my healing practice Being in Beauty. Since then I have been focussed on helping people deepen their connection with spirit, and inspiring them to see the world through the eyes of beauty and creating beauty in their lives. I endeavor to transmit the intimate relationship and direct primal experience of the drum in my healing sessions, one to one tuition and trainings.
The drum has remained a constant and true friend, a profound teacher and continues to guide, support and sustain me. Making this gift of healing accessible to people from all walks of life is my promise and commitment to the spirit of the drum.
