This question arrived, whilst preparing to teach at this years Transpersonal Summer Seminar in Estonia. The theme is ‘The Higher Self’.When I asked myself this question, I remembered my life when I was a child.
I always knew I was born for a reason and during my childhood I felt so connected to my inner wisdom. The more I focused on this awareness with my higher self I became more conscious that this self was not high at all, in fact it was very small. My higher self was me as a child. So, the perception of ‘connecting with the higher self’ shared a completely different image visually. This bought such a radiant smile to my face as the self I was connecting with was short, the complete opposite to being high. I have always had a deep awareness to the natural authentic gifts we have, which we often begin to explore in our childhood. For many of us we lose this connection as we change our behaviours from such a young age. This may be to receive love from our parents and family, being accepted at school, or simply just wishing to be seen. For some of us we often detach from these natural gifts and learn new ways to be, disconnecting us from our true nature. So, if I ask you this question again: “When in your life were you most connected to your higher self”? Would you feel a connection to the natural gifts you were born with and if so, are you connected to them now? These are very important questions to ask ourselves as we all have different perceptions for what or who are higher self is. This question of course does not remain still, it evolves, for it may continue to inspire us to learn more about our higher self and how to connect with it. Because ultimately the higher self is us. It may be a calling or a devotional search to connect with our inner authenticity. As this awareness continues to evolve, another question may surface which is: “Why and how do we disconnect from our higher self”? The more we reconnect to our authentic selves, we will naturally begin to ask ourselves questions. To receive answers that nourish this connection we can learn practices and techniques, supporting and inviting us to meet our higher self. For me, this is the passion in my own practice, as my higher self has always been with me. The question I ask myself is how do I nurture this connection? And often the answer is accepting the reasons why the disconnection occurred. Learning to accept this, can be challenging as it unveils core reasons why we disconnected from ourselves and what we gained by doing so. Wherever our higher self exists we can embrace the qualities that wish to be both shared and received. Unveiling and nourishing these connections are what I offer in my one-to-one sessions. For many of us, we block connections to our authenticity because we do not want to feel what caused the blockage initially. When we welcome the way of witnessing, we reconnect to our inner authenticity, nourishing this gift without judgement. By simply doing this, we are already becoming the higher self. So, during this preparation for this years Transpersonal Summer Seminar in Estonia, I welcome the weaving in us all. May we retrieve and receive our natural gifts, that have always been ours. Because for many of us, including myself, we have disconnected from our higher self, for many reasons. Through practicing compassionate awareness and understanding we can reconnect to our natural gifts. Our inner authenticity is restored as we continually invite our true selves into being.
