Power in Unity
In many countries drums have been used in ceremonies for communication, both in the present moment and with the ancestors.
I sit with the vision of witnessing all leaders of every country learning to talk, listen and learn from one another in a new way of working together in sacred balance.
Weapons are no longer used containing angry messages hidden in missiles sent with intentions to cause hurt. Only rhythms honouring the ancestors are shared from country to country.
Could this really happen?
And if so, how?
I believe there is such a distortion of power throughout the world and this is potentially because we all have different perceptions towards power in life, but not of life or for life. Too many world leaders externalise their power into pain, but so few internalise their pain into power. Even though the most powerful leader of all is nature, so few follow her lead. This shows exactly how disconnected most world leaders are in relation to their authentic use of power.
Ultimately, there is no greater power that the nature of earth itself, it is our home, not just for the few, but all of life.
This is what many of our ancestors understood, believed and practiced whether in ceremony or simply living in harmony with the natural balance of all life.
This transformation begins at home with ourselves, in our daily lives. These are sacred opportunities for self awareness, acknowledging our presence in relation to our balanced and unbalanced behaviours.
These depths of self awareness and conscious change can be practiced in partnership with the drum and this is the foundation of my training I call ‘The Drums Tongue.’ It is an invitation to feel deeply into our healing needs and share this with the drum consciously, compassionately and creatively. It is this depth of partnership that our ancestors understood and knew why the drum was used in all of their ceremonial communications in community and the spirit world.
We all need to remember that as living organisms we are connected to the evolutionary intelligence of nature. To ignore this or even hold a believe that we are better is to unconsciously create a world where organisms are no longer given the right to live in balance with one another. I believe this is what is happening in our lives right now. Our ancestors have always known the importance of living in harmony with nature as being essential for all life to exist in sacred balance.
So, when you look at this photo above, imagine you are one of these drums, to your left is a country, a human, an animal, or even a thought. Now ask yourself, how can you bring balance to your presence in relation to the other? The answer is simple, find the balance inside you, notice the disharmony that exists inside you and let it be present. Allow it to surface, be witnessed and share it with your drum with absolute trust. Open yourself to communicate with your drum, inviting the most sacred relationship of all, your knowing, your feeling, your trusting and your healing.
We all have old memories of who we think we are, but the true liberation is to give power to who we truly are. And to do this we need to witness all of ourselves, even parts of ourselves that we may not like. For, this is where we transform our pain into our power and we do this in harmony with a loving guide who can support us.
For me, it was the drum, as I listened and learned from the drums tongue itself. When I spoke, the drum heard me and when the drum spoke I heard the drum talk. Together we met in absolute harmony as spirit and soul communicating with one another. And here pain is transformed into power, because this partnership is both internal and eternal and forever external.
